Garbage in Garbage out… Food changes your genes. Bad food blocks your body to function properly and even hinders your brain to work at it’s full capacity. With quality food I don’t mean organic or other specific criteria on it’s own.
I mean the difference in nutrition and the ingredients of the food itself. While eating organic potatoes chips seems to be a healthy choice, but the question in it self is, how potato chips regardless of the quality are beneficial for a functional body.
Bad food can cause major disruptions in the functioning of your body. Poor diet choices, such as those high in saturated fat and sugar, can cause inflammation which damages the cells and organs.
This inflammation triggers a series of biochemical reactions that ultimately lead to cell death or dysfunction. Moreover, these unhealthy foods are also linked to increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer and other chronic diseases.
Beyond physical health risks associated with poor nutrition choices, bad food can also affect cognitive functions like memory and learning capacity. This is because certain essential nutrients provide our brain with essential brain-building blocks for optimal function and performance.
When we lack these nutrients from our diets, our brains are not able to develop properly or work at their full potential. Furthermore, some studies have shown that when children eat unhealthy foods their cognitive development is delayed relative to their peers who consume healthier diets.
Finally, bad food has been linked to mental health issues including depression and anxiety due to its effect on neurochemicals in the brain that regulate moods. Eating processed foods high in sugar has been linked to increased levels of cortisol which is associated with stress responses in the body leading to feelings of depression or anxiety over long periods of time if not addressed properly through healthy nutritional choices combined with regular exercise.
